Howdy,
I'm a subscriber to 404Media. What first drew me in was the site being hosted on Ghost. I signed up for a free subscription all because of that. Now I'm happy to pay them $10 bucks a month. It's well worth it.
This excellent piece accurately sums up why I say “social media is a social disease”.

Janus nails why posting back and forth with anons about Trump’s latest atrocities adds up to nothing more than poor health and lost time. Or why it “keeps us in a state of debilitating fear and anger, endlessly reacting to our oppressors instead of organizing against them”, “always reacting and never acting”.
She points out that social media convinces “ourselves that posting is a form of political activism, when it is at best a coping mechanism—an individualist solution to problems that can only be solved by collective action”.“But when it comes to addressing the problems we face, no amount of posting or passive info consumption is going to substitute the hard, unsexy work of organizing”. Bingo. 100 percent. But now what?
When you’re addicted to drugs and booze the answer isn’t to drug or drink less. The answer is simple, but incredibly hard - stop, then stay stopped. Sort of the same goes here. To defeat Trumpism and oligarchs the answer is to drop today’s social networks and get involved.
tty next time,
