I haven't watched a Rich Roll podcast in many moons. Rich and I go way back, I was there when he started. I've written extensively about him on heyheyrenee.
Full disclosure, we’re Rivian shareholders. As an investment, we believe in Rivian. I think RJ is a brilliant mind, he's everything Elon isn't.
However.
What R.J. left out and Rich didn’t push back on was the millions of jobs that AI will kill. Millions of jobs that won't be replaced.
AI isn’t like the Internet or the iPhone. Both killed some jobs but created many more. I know, I was there. I wrote some of the copy.
No. AI will kill millions of jobs, entire gene pools will become unemployable. The government will have to pay people to stay home. My gawd just look around. Do you see more high paying jobs being created? No. it's why millions of Americans are struggling and the gap between the haves and have nots is getting wider. Do you think this is going to change? Explain how? When, have the tech oligarchs ever shown to be benevolent? Their entire model is built around fewer jobs, not more. Who in their right mind thinks this is ever going to change, that somehow these overlords are all the sudden going to find their moral compass?
Rich is “excited”. How apropos. This is the same guy who’s in recovery, but now sells non-alcoholic beer. My clean and sober date is 4.16.07. Non-alcoholic beer is for non-alcoholics. The same guy who sells supplements, that studies have proven to be no more than placebo. That studies found to not even contain what's listed on the label.
Rich wasn't always this way. There was a time when he was about altruism. But then he found out there's no money in that. Now, he's a neo-liberal shill for the Whole Foods crowd.
It blows my mind that millions of people aren't in the streets. That instead they’re transfixed to their phones. Because tech has made them comfortably numb. Their phones are in charge of their minds. Soon, Elon will be pitching implants. And people will line up around the block. Maybe Rich will sell them too?
OMG this is so sad, it's heartbreaking to watch the decay.
Tech and phones have turned our society into sleepwalkers. It blows my mind that people aren't fighting back, unplugging, and walking against the wheel.
People have the power – but only if they use it. Start fighting back. Rage against the machine! See you tomorrow at 11 at the Tesla dealership to protest Elon.
