Our Next President Will Not Be A Model Of Health
I'm reprinting this excellent piece from the Esselsytn Foundation. Renee and I have been following them for years, we're big fans. Renee and I have been whole food plant based since May 1, 2015.
From their website:
"We are a 501c3 public charity committed to healing the world through the promotion of whole food, plant-based nutrition. We partner with existing non-profits and community-based organizations to spread our message far and wide".
Help.
In case you forgot, we have an election coming up in November. No matter the outcome, we all know one thing for sure: Our next president will be a terrible role model when it comes to diet and nutrition.
That’s right. There is one issue that both our presidential candidates can agree upon 100%: Awful nutrition.
Joe Biden’s diet has been described as that “of a child.” According to one source, a longtime Biden adviser told The Washington Post that “he has the tastes of a 5-year-old.” His favorite meals include peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pizza, cookies, angel hair spaghetti with tomato sauce, and most famously, ice cream.
As one reporter describes, Biden’ has a “food palette that skews beige.” And, all of this is usually washed down with an orange Gatorade.
Then there is Mr. Trump. According to a number of sources, this is Mr. Trump’s daily menu:
- Skip breakfast, or bacon and eggs.
- Lunch is often skipped, too, though meatloaf sandwiches are a preference if available.
- Dinner often includes a full McDonald’s dinner of two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, and a small chocolate shake.
According to another source, Trump adores McDonalds so much that he asked the White House kitchen to recreate the food for him when he was in office.
As well, he likes his steaks well done and topped with ketchup. As for beverages, the Donald is famous for drinking Diet Coke all day.
Though we do not know for sure, these diets seem to be taking their toll. Biden’s recent debate performance suggests that he is suffering from some form of vascular dementia, which we know is the result of nutritional choices. Similarly, the incoherent ramblings of Mr. Trump suggest similar issues may be at play. Trump also weighs in at 243 lbs. This puts his BMI over 30, which classifies him as obese.
Last, both candidates take the statin Crestor.
