My tech career started circa '88. It's fun being part of something that changes things. It's happened to me a few times.

I'm so happy for everyone in crypto, I truly am. I read that someone can buy a home now because of an NFT sale. That's wonderful. I want to hug them.

I'm happy for everyone who'll experience the feeling of, "I was there". They'll get to tell great stories.

Yes, you'll get older. Believe it or not there's benefits. Experience is one. As great as crypto is, years from now they'll be something else that changes things. Younger people coming up treat you with revererance. You've been, where they're heading.

I've been given some great advise over the years. I always want to share it.

One is that when you start to be successful, don't speed ahead. Go back. Go back and retrace the steps to the product launch. Think about what you got you there.

Folks in NFT would do well to do the same. Go back and recall the days when they didn't have apes. Read the Bitcoin White Paper. Remember that the mission of crypto is a rising tide that lifts all boats, not a rising tide that lifts yachts.

Another would be to practice humility. It's not easy. Early dotcom I had a white suit and blue shoes. I had custom shirts, beautiful ties, and suits. I was proud of what I was part of and damn it, I wanted others to know. I was flexing.

You want to flex and that's cool. But there's a difference between flexing and rubbing it in others faces. Don't be a dick.

One more.

People are making life changing money right now. That's great. I'm happy for them. I'd ask them to step back, listen to this cover of Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out, from Layla Revisited, Live At Lockn (8-24-19). Trey Anastasio sat in with Tedeschi Trucks Band.

peace and love,

Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out

Once I lived the life of a millionaire
Spent all my money, I just did not care
Took all my friends out for a good time
Bought bootleg whiskey, champagne and wine

Then I began to fall so low
Lost all my good friends, I did not have nowhere to go
I get my hands on a dollar again
I'm going to hang on to it until that eagle grins

Because no, no, nobody knows you
When you're down and out
In your pocket, not one penny
And as for friends, you don't have any

When you finally get back up on your feet again
Everybody wants to be your old long-lost friend
Said it's mighty strange, without a doubt
Nobody knows you when you're down and out

When you finally get back up on your feet again
Everybody wants to be your old long-lost friend
Said it's mighty strange, without a doubt
Nobody knows you when you're down and out
