If apes know how to get off the treadmill, why don't we?
Howdy,
Bummed out about this piece on Democracy Now! today.
"The United States is driving a global surge in spending on nuclear weapons. The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons reports global spending on nukes jumped 13% to over $91 billion last year. The United States spent over $51 billion modernizing its nuclear arsenal — that’s more money than all of the other nuclear nations spent last year combined."
Apparently our government hasn't read Annie Jacobsen's seminal book, here.
Which brings me back to Paul C. Warnke's essay – Apes on a Treadmill. And to this question that Mr. Warnke poses: "If the apes know how to get off the treadmill, why don't we?"
Investing another penny in nuclear defense is insanity. What we should be doing is disarming, using that money here at home. But Trumpers want to spend trillions on nuclear weapons - just read Project 2025.
